You can’t think of 50’s fashion without thinking about the full skirt. This is an absolute classic. The full skirt was popular in the 50’s becauseof its flattering nature. The fullness hides the big hips and makes waists look smaller. The fuller the skirt the more magic it has on slimming waistlines – and we ladies love our waists slimmer, don’t we? Believe it or not, this skirt was my mother’s (she clearly had some good taste LOL), so i think you can now relate to the title of the post. But she wasn’t from the 50’s though.
In the past couple of months, i had given prints a break until i came across this shirt. WOW. Need i say more? I don’t think so. It was one of those ”in the moment” decisions i usually make when i wake up without a planned outfit, and once i wore the shirt with the skirt – there was no going back. For those who follow me on Snap Chat (itsmayabee11) know the love i have for this hat – i wear it at least once a week and as i type this it has taken over the co driver’s seat in my car. I know, I know….but am crazy about this one. I think the hat gave the whole outfit such an edgy finish. I went with a pair of nude pointed toe heels – you already know the love is real here with these shoes (check it out here).
To add some highlight and pop to the skirt, i added a small gold belt and opted for all gold accessories.
Wait…..isn’t this was just the perfect post and outfit to wish all the Ugandans an amazing independence (a lil’ bit of every color on our flag). Today i plan on hitting the kitchen so hopefully i will get good enough pictures to share with you guys.
To an amazing four day weekend. Happy Independence Uganda.
