Hello there Lovelies!

I am super hyped to be typing this as I have been thinking and planning on doing this for a year now. I don’t know about you but motherhood and life ingeneral can tend to be such a drag sometimes and there’s nothing better than finding comfort and inspiration from someone who can relate. In this case a mother and a woman. So Welcome to MOM TALKS! These will be conversations with some dope ass women I have encountered in my life both in person and on social media sharing their journeys as mothers and women in general. This is in hope to Inspire, Comfort and Educate somebody out there.

I decided to start these series close to home with my best friend and sister Kyom, one of the strongest women I know and yet very easy going. Having known her since High School, it’s safe to say we have done it all and now we are on this Motherhood chapter together. If that’s not BFF Goals, I don’t know what is😉

BEYOND BEING A MOM, WHO IS KYOM?

Kyomugisha Joweria aka Kyom… is a very loving, caring And fun loving person who is a first time mom at the moment and loving every minute of it 😁  I hold a degree in Information Technology from Makerere University and I am an artist as well. (@kyomzartgallery in Instagram)

WHAT WAS THE FIRST WEEK / MONTH / YEAR WITH A BABY LIKE FOR YOU?

That whole time had over whelming change for me, in everything, in the way I slept ate organised my cloths, everything became about my baby girl, I became such a morning person which I never was before. It was such a crazy time for me but I had to adjust and get out of all my comfort zones. I must say it was quite eye opening and different kind of growth for me.

DID YOU EXPERIENCE POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION OR PREGNANCY BLUES? IF YES, THEN HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH THEM.

It wasn’t depression per say but it was a difficult time since I had a ceaseran Birth and everything was uncomfortable however I had alot of help from my mum in dealing with it. I am lucky that went through everything with alot of help.

HOW DO YOU SURVIVE MOM GUILT?

I haven’t survived it yet…… am still struggle with it a lot.

WHATS THAT STEREOTYPE YOU HATE ABOUT MOTHERS.

That we can’t do it all. Moms tend to give alot of excuses of having babies to get out of commitments – it’s unfortunate that I am one of these mothers. I have put a lot of my desires and dreams on back burner using my baby as an excuse which I am fighting to stop. It should stop.

WHAT’S THAT ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE HAD TOLD YOU BEFORE YOU BECAME A MOTHER?

That everything stops being about you and you start to live for someone else.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO KEEP GOING? HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION?

My baby girl…… I want to make the world a better place for her and so many other little ones like her. Just the thought of the world being unsafe for her drives me crazy.

HOW WOULD YOU WANT YOUR CHILD(REN) TO REMEMBER YOU?

As the human being who did the ultimate best she could for them and the world at large.

WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY WHERE EVERYBODY’S GOT AN OPINION ABOUT EVERYTHING. HOW HAVE YOU MANAGED TO STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF ESPECIALLY AFTER HAVING A BABY.

I  know that in life you can not make everyone happy, so with or without people’s approvals I will protect my child the best way that I know how to.

HOW WOULD YOU ADVISE ANY WOMAN OUT THERE WHO PLANS ON HAVING CHILDREN?

Make sure that when you decide to bring a child into this world it is what you truly want because it takes ALOT to raise a child besides giving birth. Plus every child deserves every bit of a good childhood so don’t deny them that by bringing them into this world when you are not ready to provide that unconditional love and support.
